On a petition filed by Sajjad Ahmed, the court ordered the police to book housing scheme owner Naseem and his four accomplices including Rafique and Shahid for building Al-Jannat Housing Scheme without the government approval and plan.

ISLAMABAD: The federal agencies investigating the death of dozens of cardiac patients, caused by fake drugs issued by the Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC), have taken into custody the medicine stocks and hospital record, and put names of owner/directors of three drug manufacturing companies on the Exit Control List to stop them from fleeing abroad, official sources confirmed on Thursday.
Karachi: ‘Bandits’ kill man
KARACHI, Jan 26: A man was shot dead during a robbery in his house within the remit of the Surjani Town police station on Thursday, police said. They said that at least three suspected bandits entered the house of Mohsin Feroz, 35, in Sector 4-D of Surjani Town in the early hours of Thursday and held the inmates hostage at gunpoint.

TOBA TEK SINGH: District and Sessions Judge Ch Mushtaq Ahmad on Thursday awarded death sentence and Rs 200,000 fine to Waris of Chak 396/JB in a murder case. The court acquitted another accused Abbas giving him the benefit of the doubt. The prosecution said that the convict had killed Shahzadi over an old enmity a year ago.

LAHORE: Additional District and Sessions Judge Muneer Ahmad on Saturday awarded the death sentence to two murder convicts. The court gave Ali Hassan and Muhammad Asif death sentence on the charges of murdering a person while gave the benefit of the doubt to Bashir Ahmed and released him. The court directed the convicts to pay Rs300,000 as compensation to the heirs to the victim.

Karachi: DHA security inspector among four killed
KARACHI: Four people, including a Defence Housing Authority (DHA) security inspector, were killed in the city on Thursday. Two armed men tried breaking into the bungalow of Khurrum Zia Khan on Khayban-e-Bahria in DHA Phase VII. While the robbers were entering the house, Khurrum’s younger brother saw them and called the police. A mobile van was dispatched to the crime scene.
Karachi: DHA vigilance official killed in shootout with bandits
KARACHI, Jan 26: A field inspector of the DHA vigilance department was killed and two bandits, one of them wounded, were arrested by police following a Thursday morning shootout in the Defence Housing Authority. Police said the incident took place at Khayaban-i-Bahria, Phase VII, within the remit of the Gizri police station, where at least three bandits barged into the house of an industrialist.

T. T. Singh: Illicit relations Rickshaw driver’s ear, nose chopped
TOBA TEK SINGH: An ear and nose of a rickshaw driver were chopped by three people on suspicion of illicit relations at Mauza Kohal Khurd, Pirmahal. Tanveer Ahmad had allegedly developed illicit relations with a married woman of the family of Shabbir Ahmad, Allah Yar and Bismillah who intercepted him on Pirmahal-Rajana Road when he was carrying passengers. They thrashed him and allegedly chopped his nose and ear with knives. Tanveer was taken to Pirmahal Rural Health Centre from where he was referred to Toba DHQ Hospital. The police are conducting raids to arrest the accused.

THATTA, Jan 26: Police claimed to have killed a dacoit carrying Rs500,000 as head-money along with one of his hostages while another victim was recovered. However, villagers dispute the claim of police, maintaining that a clash took place between two groups of outlaws operating in the forest over ransom demand.
5 deprived of cash, jewellery in Kasur
KASUR: People were deprived of cash and jewellery in two incidents here on Thursday. In the first incident, Aslam and his wife were stopped by some people posing as health department employees in Chunian. They injected them with some intoxicants in the name of vaccination for their health. Later, the couple fell unconscious. The swindlers took away mobile phones, cash and jewellery from them. In another incident at Chunian Hospital some swindlers gave intoxicated juice to some patients and their attendants including Qadir, Ramzan and Yousaf. When they fainted, the looters deprived them of cash and mobile phones.

TOBA TEK SINGH: Rajana police have so far allegedly failed to arrest its two sub-inspectors, an assistant sub-inspector and five constables in a house trespass case. On Wednesday, the police registered a case against SIs Alamdar and Asif Butt, ASI Ghulam Murtaza and five constables on the orders of an additional district and sessions judge. Khuda Dad Khan advocate in a petition alleged that the policemen illegally entered his house to arrest a proclaimed offender some days ago. He furather alleged that the policemen also attacked and damaged his car when he was going to shift his ailing aunt to a hospital on the same day.

BATKHELA, Jan 26: A newborn boy went missing from the gynae ward of district headquarters hospital in Batkhela, Malakand, on Thursday. Qasim Khan, a resident of Batkhela, told media persons that his wife gave birth to their first baby in district headquarters hospital on Wednesday night with a major operation and later she was shifted to the gynea ward.

SIALKOT: Dacoits decamped with cash and valuables in three hits. Three armed dacoits looted Rs 150,000 from a medical store at Commissioner Road in the limits of Kotwali Police. Two dacoits riding a motorcycle intercepted the car of Saqib near village Jaurian in the limits of Uggoki Police and looted gold ornaments, two mobile phones and cash from the family of Saqib sitting in the car. Thieves entered the PCO of Mazhar Hussain at Sublime Chowk in the limits of Uggoki Police and took away cash, two mobile phones and ten batteries of mobile phones.
Karachi: Security guard, notorious criminal killed in encounters
KARACHI: A security guard and a notorious criminal were shot dead in separate encounters that took place in the metropolis on Thursday. A constable of Defence Housing Authority (DHA) Security’s vigilance team was shot dead in a robbery bid at Khayaban-e-Bahria, Defence within the precincts of Gizri police station. The incident took place in the early hours of Thursday when at least three robbers barged into the house of an industrialist situated at Defence Khayaban-e-Bahria.
Transformer theft leaves Lalamusa locality in dark
LALAMUSA: Thieves stole a 200kv transformer from Mohallah Islampura, suspending power supply to the area on Wednesday midnight. The residents of the area were facing several problems due to the loadshedding. The power supply could not be restored till the filing of the report. When contacted, Gepco City subdivision Supervisor Abdul Raheem said that Sadr police had not registered a case so far. He said that the new transformer could not be installed without registration of the case.

RAWALPINDI, Jan 26: An outlet of Utility Stores Corporation (UTC) located at Tipu Road was looted by three gunmen, police said on Thursday. Nasreen Akhtar, the manager of the UTC outlet reported to Waris Khan police that three persons posing themselves as customers entered her office and pulled out their pistols.
Okara: Woman raped by ex-husband
OKARA: A woman was kidnapped and raped by her former husband. Salma Bibi of Hakim Sidharkay village got divorce from Sabir and started living with her parents. On Thursday night, Sabir, his brother Shahbaz and an accomplice entered the house of Salma and kidnapped her at gunpoint. They took her to their dera and raped her. The accused also shaved her head. The Depalpur City police have registered a case and started investigations.
Karachi: Khurram Rasool swindles Rs100m from Karachi firm
KARACHI: The prime ministerís former media coordinator, Mian Khurram Rasool, has swindled Rs100 million from a big business house in Karachi, The News has learnt. Khurram Rasool had given cheques for Rs90 million under different heads to the complainant and owner of Home Craft, Haji Abdul Hameed, 80, his sons and different directors of the company. All the cheques were dishonoured.
