Militants attack police station in Swat
MINGORA: Suspected local Taliban militants attacked Matta police station in Swat late on Sunday, official sources said. The militants fled away when police retaliated. This is the first attack on the police station since security forces recaptured it from the militants last month, the sources said.
The bomb disposal squad was called to defuse a bomb hurled by the militants. Meanwhile, the security forces targeted the hideouts of suspected militants in the Piochar and Totano Bada areas. Also, unidentified people torched the house of local militant commander Nisar, while another house was destroyed in artillery fire in the Shor area of Matta late on Sunday. The security forces arrested eight miscreants, including one suspected suicide bomber, at Ayub Bridge and Fiza Ghat checkpost in Swat on Monday, according to a statement.
