3 militant commanders among 70 held in Swat
PESHAWAR: Security forces on Thursday arrested 70 suspected militants, including three local militant commanders, in a crackdown in Shakardara, Matta tehsil, in Swat district. Swat Media Information Centre In charge Col Nadeem confirmed the arrest of 44 suspects, adding that arms and ammunition had also been seized from them during the swoop.
The three detained commanders have been identified as Ikramuddin, Abar Khan and Sheroom, and they have been shifted to an undisclosed location for interrogation, sources said.
The local police also razed the house of militant commander Ikramullah, while the houses of two other commanders, namely Omar and Bakht Rawan, were set on fire in the same area. During the operation, curfew was in place in Matta, Kabal and Kanjoo areas of Swat. The local administration imposed curfew from 6pm on Thursday till 7am on Friday.
