Lahore: Five members of the Shahnawaz gang held
LAHORE: The Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) police (Sadar Division) have arrested five members of the Shahnawaz gang and seized robbed property, worth more than five hundred thousand rupees, and illegal weapons from them.
A special police steam, consisting of CIA Sadar officials, arrested the gang from Sherakot area. The arrested were identified as ringleader Shahnawaz Ahmad, Shahzad alias Shah, Zaman, Nadeem and Naeem. The accused have confessed to 60 robberies in Lahore, Faisalabad and Sargodha districts.
Capital City Police Officer Malik Muhammad Iqbal has announced cash prizes and commendatory certificates for the raiding team. Meanwhile, Inspector General of Punjab Police Ahmad Nasim on Thursday suspended Muzaffarghar DSP (headquarters) Ghulam Hussain for negligence of duty. According to a Punjab police spokesman, the IG took the disciplinary action in the light of a report from the Muzaffarghar district police officer about a bank robbery.
Three police officials, who were posted at the bank, were absent at the time of the incident and the officials were under the DSP’s supervision.
