Rawalpindi: Police arrest gangsters
RAWALPINDI: R A Bazaar police on Thursday arrested some gangsters allegedly involved in car and mobile snatching and recovered stolen goods from them, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Yasin Farooq told a press conference.
He said City Police Officer (CPO) Syed Saud Aziz had formed a special team to arrest the gangs following increase in car and mobile thefts in the area.
He said the police had arrested four members of a “Rehan gang”, which was wanted the most. He said the gangsters snatched rented cars and mobile phones on gunpoint. He said the criminals sold stolen cars after changing their colour and registration numbers. A gangster, he said, had not yet been arrested.
Two Suzuki Mehran cars, one Toyota Corolla car, 16 mobile phones, four pistols, 70 rounds and a dagger were recovered from the gangsters and put on display. The gangsters, Farooq said, had confessed to 14 robbery attempts during preliminary investigation.
He said the police had arrested some other gangsters and recovered four mobile phones, two Suzuki Mehran cars, a pistol, 30 rounds and two daggers from them. He said the gangsters had confessed to robberies and mobile snatchings.
