Lahore: 4 robbers arrested
LAHORE: Sadar Division police claim to have arrested a gang of criminals involved in a number of robberies. In a handout issued on Tuesday, the police said they arrested four people, recovered looted property worth Rs 10 million, and seized illegal weapons from them. They said the dacoits looted the property during two incidents in Muslim Town in November 2007.
A special team headed by Sadar Division superintendent of police (Investigation) Jahanzaib Nazir Khan was constituted, which collected the particulars of Dastagir Gang and arrested its four members on a tip off. The modus operandi of the gang was that they used to enter houses at gunpoint and loot valuables from the families.
They police said the recovered looted property worth Rs 10 million from two houses in Muslim Town on November 19 and 23, last year. They said the police team recovered 247 tolas of jewellery worth Rs 5.1 million, two cars, cameras, cell phones, a television set and prize bonds, and seized four pistols and bullets from the arrested.
The arrested were identified as ringleader Ghulam Dastagir, Zeeshan, Salman Khan and Ashraf. The police said a special team had been constituted to arrest the remaining members of the gang.
