Attack on PPP candidate in Islamabad
LAHORE: Unknown people on Sunday night opened fire on the vehicle of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) candidate for NA-49, Nayyer Hussain Bukhari, in Islamabad. Bukhari, however, escaped the attack because he was not present in the vehicle, a private television channel reported.
The attackers managed to flee the scene. Talking to Geo News, Bukhari said he and another PPP leader, Syed Israr Shah, had been receiving threatening phone calls demanding money for some days now. He said he had already given the phone number to the police. He said, however, that he was not sure whether the people who had made the calls did the firing on his vehicle.
