Rawalpindi: Hearing into military officers’ killing adjourned
RAWALPINDI: Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) judge Sakhi Muhammad Kahoot on Monday adjourned hearing into the killing of two army officers in Gulistan Colony till January 30. Capt (r) Ismail Pervaiz Minhas had gunned down two serving army officers, Major Kashif Mehmood and Major Faisal Abbasi, and injured a retired civil servant over a dispute regarding payment of utility bills of a Gulistan Colony house on February 3 last year.
Captain (r) Minhas had been occupying a portion of Major Mehmood’s house in Gulistan Colony on rent. The latter wanted the former to vacate his house over low rent. Minhas agreed to leave, but refused to pay the outstanding utility dues. This led to a brawl between him and the tenant.
Minhas took out his pistol in anger and fired shots at Major Faisal, his father Mian Mehmood and brother-in-law Major Kashif, who had come to spend the weekend. The firing killed Major Abbasi and Major Mehmood. The attacker fled, but was arrested in November.
