Lahore: Three kidnappers arrested
LAHORE: The Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) Cantonment Division have arrested three kidnappers, including a woman, who abducted a three-year-old boy from the Factory Area. The police recovered the ransom money (Rs 1.1 million) and seized illegal weapons from them.
The police on Wednesday said Waseem Sajid went outside to play on September 27, 2007, and did not return. His parents tried to find him but failed, after which they got a case registered with the Factory Area police under Section 365/A on September 28.
An unidentified man contacted the victim’s father and demanded Rs 10 million for the release of his son. After negotiations, the kidnappers agreed to release the boy for Rs 2 million. The boy’s parents gave Rs 2 million to the criminals and the accused released the boy the next day.
Additional Inspector General Malik Muhammad Iqbal directed DIG (Investigations) Tasadduq Hussain to trace the criminals. A special team, headed by CIA Superintendent of Police Chaudhry Masood Aziz, was constituted for this purpose.
On Tuesday night, the police team collected the particulars of the kidnappers and arrested them on a tip-off. The police recovered Rs 1.1 million – the ransom money – and seized two pistols and bullets from them. The arrested were identified as Dilawar Hussain, Tahir and Humaira.
