Karachi: NAB arrests customs appraiser
KARACHI: The National Accountability Bureau (Sindh) arrested Syed Hamid Umer, a principal customs appraiser, on charges of corruption. He is charged with being involved in the accumulation of assets and living beyond the means of his known sources of income.
According to a handout issued by NAB, the accused was involved in hundreds of thousands of rupees of corruption during the period of his service while posted in Custom House Karachi.
Syed Hamid Umer, who joined the service in 1984, was produced before Accountability Courts Karachi Administrative Judge Syed Aal-e-Maqbool Rizvi and was remanded to NAB custody for 15 days.
