Lahore: Baby killed, parents suspected
LAHORE: A month-old baby was killed allegedly during a quarrel between his parents in Shamnagar, Lytton Road police precinct, on Monday. The FIR registered with Lytton Road police states that Irfat Qureshi complained to the police about unidentified people killing his brother’s month-old son. The brother’s name is listed as Ahmed Amjad and the baby’s as Usman.
The FIR quotes Irfat as saying that his brother had told him about two unidentified men having kidnapped his son from his house in Islamia Park, Shamnagar, on Sunday night. The FIR states that Ahmed Amjad also informed Lytton Road police about the incident and that the police immediately got to the house. The FIR states that two hours after the incident Ahmed Amjad informed the police about his son’s recovery. However, the FIR states that Ahmed Amjad found the baby unconscious at his doorstep.
The FIR states that Ahmed Amjad and his wife Shumaila took the baby to Ganga Ram Hospital, where he died on Monday.
Lytton Road police said Ahmed Amjad and Shumaila fled the hospital. The hospital administration informed the police who took the body for autopsy. Investigation officer SI Muhammad Akhtar said the issue was confusing. He said they had started searching for the boy’s parents. He said initial interrogations from neighbours and relatives had revealed that Ahmed Amjad and Shumaila could be involved in killing their son’s murder. He said the couple could have quarrelled with each other during which Ahmed Amjad pushed his wife, who fell on Usman. He said the couple could have performed the drama of unidentified people killing their son to save their skin.
