Karachi: SHO, land inspector injured
KARACHI: An SHO and a CDGK land inspector were injured when they were attacked by land grabbers during an anti-encroachment operation in Orangi Town Thursday. Land inspector Shakir Alam reached the spot in the afternoon with his team but residents were already waiting for him. He called the Pakistan Bazaar police and SHO Malik Tariq and his team arrived. During negotiations, the authorities were fired on and the two men were injured.
Backup was ordered in with Orangi DSP Qaiser Ali Shah. The residents were surrounded and three men – Azmat Ali Shah, Mianji Khan and Naseem Shah – were arrested. An FIR No. 282008 was registered under sections 144, 148, 149, 553, 186, 324 and 364. Mohammad Khan Afridi (allegedly the head of the land grabbers gang), Razzak Afridi, Aurdab Khan, Amir Khan, Nazim Afridi, Hakeem urf Dawood, Niaz, Fez Nawaz and others were nominated in it.
The land belongs with the Orangi cottage industries scheme but the land grabbers had set up a boundary wall that the team had gone to demolish.
