Lahore: Police arrest ‘outlaws’ ahead of elections
LAHORE: The police have arrested 231 ‘outlaws’ during the midnight of February 7 and February 8 and seized a cache of unlicensed arms and narcotics as well, the spokesman of capital city police officer (CCPO) told Daily Times on Friday.
He said the police had also arrested 20 proclaimed offenders, including two women, involved in various crimes during the crackdown.
He said the Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) had constituted nine teams ahead of elections to maintain a peaceful atmosphere in the city. The teams seized 119 pistols, revolvers and guns, 470 bullets, 22-kilo hashish and 10 bottles of liquor.
CCPO Malik Muhammad Iqbal praised the CIA for its successful crackdown and announced cash prizes and commendatory certificates for all the raiding teams, said the official.
