Gujrat: Two PPP leaders booked for ‘inciting’ people against police
GUJRAT: Police have registered cases against two Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) candidates for the February 18 elections under the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO) 16.
Kunjah police registered cases against Chaudhry Ahmad Mukhtar, contesting for the National Assembly seat in constituency 105, and Nasir Sama, a candidate for allegedly the provincial assembly seat in constituency 110, for inciting and igniting people to torch police vehicles. Mukhtar said some police officials were tearing off PPP banners in his constituency when his supporters resented this and called him. He said the police beat three PPP workers and later arrested them.
Mukhtar is contesting elections against Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, and Nasir Sama against former Punjab chief minister Pervaiz Elahi’s son Moonis Elahi.
