Lahore: Labourer gunned down
LAHORE: A 24-year-old labourer was gunned down late on Monday in the Harbanspura police precinct. Harbanspura Circle Assistant Superintendent of Police said Muhammad Amir, a resident of Salamat Pura, had illicit relations with the sister of Usman, a resident of the same area.
He said a couple of days ago, Usman and Amir had a quarrel. He said Usman had threatened Amir with dire consequences and also told Amir to stay away from his sister.
Late on Monday night, Usman, his friend Awais and four unidentified accomplices fired at Amir. He was rushed to a nearby hospital where doctors pronounced him dead.
The police sent the body to the city morgue for an autopsy and registered a case on the complaint of the deceased’s brother.
Police kill robber in shootout Faisal Town police on Tuesday shot dead a robber during an encounter in a robbery bid and recovered stolen goods and weapons from them.
The killed robber was identified as Zahid and the arrested was identified as Raheel. Mujahid Squad received a call at 10am that two armed men after snatching a motorcycle (STC 3344) from Barkat Market were on their way to Faisal Town.
The Mujahid Squad superintendent of police ordered the Model Town police to arrest the robbers. When the Faisal Town police signalled the robbers to stop they fired at the police team. The police officials retaliated, injuring Zahid.
