Lahore: Drugs worth millions seized
LAHORE: The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) on Friday seized a huge quantity of heroin, cocaine and other drugs worth millions of rupees in separate operations. According to an official handout, the force – in a special operation at the Allama Iqbal International Airport – seized a large number of fruit tins containing fine quality of heroin, destined for South Africa.
A South African national was arrested, who had concealed these drugs in the tins and re-sealed them expertly. A case has been registered against the accused. The ANF, in another operation near Rahat Bakery, Cantonment, intercepted two vehicles and, after a thorough search, seized 1.125 kgs of cocaine and ecstasy tablets worth Rs 12 million. Four drug traffickers, including a Nigerian national, were arrested, who were considered to be the sources of supplying drugs to the youth. A case has been registered and further investigations are underway. In another raid near Faisalabad interchange, the ANF seized 127 kgs of fine quality cannabis (known as ganja), worth approximately Rs 25 million in the international market. The drugs were being smuggled in two cars, one of which was acting as a pilot car. The car containing drugs bore a green number plate. The drugs were concealed in secret cavities in the doors and trunk. The drugs were being transported from Peshawar to Lahore via the motorway for onward supply to the international market. Two traffickers have been arrested and significant outcomes are expected. A case has been registered against the arrested.
