Islamabad: Five held for firing during rally
ISLAMABAD: The city police have arrested five supporters of a National Assembly candidate for opening fire during his election rally in Saidpur village, police said on Sunday.
Malik Tabarak, a candidate from NA-49, was holding a corner meeting when seven of his supporters resorted to firing in the air in jubilation, the police said on Sunday.
The Kohsar police said they opened indiscriminate firing from Kalashnikovs and pistols, which spread fear among the people of nearby areas. Police personnel present on the occasion failed to restrict them. Later, five of the seven persons were arrested and put behind bars.
