Rawalpindi: ANF seizes 10-kg heroin, 5-kg hashish
RAWALPINDI: The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) seized around 10.5 kg of fine quality heroin, 5.1 kg of hashish and two vehicles in ten operations during the last two months, said ANF Force Commander Brig Muhammad Asif Alvi while addressing a press conference here on Thursday.
He said three foreign nationals and eight Pakistani smugglers had also been arrested. Alvi said the ANF had arrested Denis Sydney Barnard, a South African, from Islamabad International Airport, when he was about to board a Doha-Johannesburg flight. He said the ANF recovered 76 heroin filled capsules containing 0.7 kg heroin by washing his stomach, as he had swallowed the capsules.
He said in another operation, the ANF arrested Mwakondo Baraki Omari, a Tanzanian, form Islamabad Airport. He said Omari was about to board Islamabad-Doha-Dares Salaam flight. He said 0.4 kg heroin, concealed in his shoes, was recovered from him.
Alvi said Percy James, a Thailand national, had been arrested when he was about to board Abu Dhabi-Dublin bound flight. He said three kg heroin was recovered from him, which he had concealed in his suitcase.
Alive said 124 heroin filled capsules containing 0.7 kg heroin were recovered from the stomach of Umer Farooq at Islamabad Airport when he was about to board a Beijing bound flight. “Another drug trafficker Saidul Hadi was arrested from the airport when he was about to board a flight bound for Bangkok,” he said, adding that 0.46 kg of heroin was recovered from him.
He said Muhammad Shakeel Khan had also been arrested when he was about to board a Karachi bound flight and 110 heroin filled capsules containing 0.52 kg white heroin were recovered from him. He said Jeet Singh, a resident of Bara, Khyber Agency had been arrested when he was about to board a Beijing bound flight. Alvi said 2.6 kg heroin was recovered from his luggage.
He said the ANF recovered two kg hashish from a passenger Talawat Khan during search at a check post on Motorway near Ghazi Brotha. He said the ANF had also intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number H–5565 near Tarnol Phatak on GT Road and recovered two kg heroin from Faqir Taj and Afzal Khan.
Alvi said in another operation, the force intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number LZH-2117 near Pirwadhai Morr and recovered 1.1 kg hashish concealed under the driving seat. He said Aman Ullah Afridi, the driver, had been arrested. He said cases have been registered against the arrested people under the Control Of Narcotics Substance Act 1997.
