Chaman: Kidnapped ASP, staff released
CHAMAN: Armed tribesmen released Chaman Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Salim Marwat along with his two security guards and a driver after holding successful negotiations with a tribal jirga, Chaman District Police Officer (DPO) Wazir Khan Nasar told APP on Saturday.
Armed men of Kakozai tribe had kidnapped the ASP along with his two security guards and a driver in order to press the release of their tribal chief Jabbar Khan Kakozai, who was arrested by police and Anti-Terrorist Force (ATF) because of his alleged involvement in kidnapping for ransom, the other day.
The area administration sent a tribal council for talks which succeeded in negotiating safe release of the detainees and reopening of the highway around 4pm.
In return the police would release Jabbar Khan and his son after discussing the matter with higher authorities.
