Karachi: Child rapist, murderer arrested
KARACHI: A police constable was gunned down Saturday in a target killing at Sir Syed. One other body was found and the police have arrested a person who had raped and killed a young boy.
Thirty-year-old Shahbaz, who was a father of a one-year-old daughter, was posted at the Sharifabad police station and had the night shift. His body was found near his house, located in Sector 7-C, North Karachi, within the jurisdiction of the Sir Syed police station. The incident occurred when Shahbaz left his house Saturday morning after returning from night shift duty to get some breakfast.
According to witnesses, Shahbaz recognized the accused because he tried to flee from the scene when he saw them. “Shahbaz hesitated and tried to run away,” said the SHO. “The accused followed him and opened fire.”
Shahbaz sustained at least four bullets and died on the spot. The deceased was a father of a one-year-old daughter. His funeral prayers were offered at a mosque situated near his house and his body was rushed to his hometown in Jhang, said the SHO.
An FIR has been registered on behalf of the deceased’s uncle, Abdul Rasheed, against unidentified accused.
Child raped and killed The Sharifi Goth police arrested a man named Imran, who has been charged for raping and murdering nine-year-old Malik Mohammad Hasnain. The accused had killed the boy as an act of revenge against the boy’s father, Tasleem.
“Me and Tasleem were working together,” Imran said in his statement to the police. “I stole some money from the office and Tasleem found out and told the owner.”
After this, the accused went to his hometown for some work. He came back to Karachi a few days ago, kidnapped Tasleem’s son and took him to Jamshoro, where he raped and buried him.
He claimed that he was injured during the bomb blasts at Karsaz and figured he would get compensated. He went to the office of Sajid Jhokio, who was a winning PPP candidate for a provincial assembly seat, from where police arrested him.
Hasnain was a resident of Mohammad Nagar and a student of Madrassa Jamia Mohammadi, located near his house. He was on the first Siparah of the Holy Quran.
“On February 21, when Hasnain was taking a class, Imran came to the madrassa to take the boy,” said Qari Ali Mohammad, a teacher. “Imran told me that he was a friend of Hasnain’s father. He said he wanted to meet Tasleem but had forgotten where his house was, so he would go along with Hasnain to the house. Hasnain recognized Imran so I handed the boy over to him.”
A day passed and Hasnain had not gotten home so his family contacted the area police and registered FIR number 2008 on behalf of the victim’s father against Imran. “We knew Imran would go to Sajid Jhokio for compensation money. We told Jhokia about the incident and when Imran went to Jhokio’s office on Saturday, Jhokio and his associates caught him and called us and the police,” said relative Saleem.
