Troop, ‘militant’ killed in Swat
MINGORA: One suspected militant and a security personnel were killed in a shootout whereas five people were arrested for their alleged involvement in suicide bombing in Swat.
The soldier was killed when security forces raided a house in the Kabal area. The owner of the house, Javed, was also killed when the security personnel returned fire, officials said. Two people were arrested from the house.
Five held Separately, police raided a workshop in Mingora and seized explosives used in suicide bombings besides arresting five people.
The police said the five were ‘involved’ in planting explosives in vehicles, which were later used in suicide attacks on security forces.
Mingora Police Deputy Superintendent Kiramat Shah told reporters that workshop owner Sirajuddin and his brother were also among the detainees.
He said a welding machine, metal containers and some explosives had been seized from the garage.
Shah told APP news agency that the police raided the workshop early on Saturday on a tip off, adding that an explosive-laden vehicle and three bombs were also seized.
