Lahore: AVLS arrests eight car lifters
LAHORE: The Anti-Vehicles Lifting Staff (AVLS), Saddar Division, claim to have arrested eight members of a gang of car lifters and recovered two cars from them on Tuesday.
The accused have confessed to 10 such incidents in various parts of the provincial metropolis during preliminary interrogation.
According to an official press release, a special team was constituted under the supervision of Criminal Record Office Superintendent Of Police Zaeem Iqbal Sheikh. The team collected the particulars of Shahid Abbas alias Shah Gang and arrested its eight members on a tip-off. The police said the modus operandi of these car lifters was that they used to lift cars parked outside houses and markets with the help of a master key, and then transported them to the Tribal Areas.
The areas in which these criminals committed crimes included Gulberg, Factory Area, Lower Mall, Mozang and Sabzazar. Around 11 cases have also been traced against them in various police stations of the city. The police recovered two cars as well as equipment used for stealing cars, from them. The arrested were identified as ringleader Shahid Abbas alias Shah, Muhammad Asif, Muhammad Shahid, Waqas Ahmed, Saleem Masih, Rasheed Ahmed, Hafiz Suleman and Ghulam Kibria.
