Lahore: Man kills mother-in-law over matrimonial issue
LAHORE: A man killed his 35-year-old mother-in-law over a matrimonial issue in the Liaqatabad police precinct on Friday.
The victim, Hameeda Bibi, was a resident of Street No 9, Kashmiri Mohalla, Liaqatabad. She had married her daughter, Iffat Bibi, with Tariq two years ago. The young couple had a quarrel with each other over an unknown issue, at which Iffat left her husband and started living with her parents. Tariq wanted to resolve the issue, and had been asking Hameeda for the last few months to send Iffat with him.
On Friday, Tariq, along with his brother-in-law, Sadiq, visited his in-laws and tried to resolve the issue.
The victim again refused to send her daughter off, over which Tariq got infuriated and shot Hameeda dead with a pistol.
The police reached the scene and removed the body to the city morgue for an autopsy. A case has also been registered against the accused on the complaint of the victim’s stepson, Waqar Hussain.
Two youths crushed to death A 22-year-old man and an 18-year-old girl were run over by a speeding flatbed in the Manga Mandi police precinct on Friday.
Edhi officials said Nadeem, a resident of Manga Mandi, and Shazia, a resident of Bhaiphairo, were going on a motorcycle when a speeding flatbed ran them over. The two sustained serious injuries and died instantly, while the driver of the flatbed fled. Some locals informed the Edhi officials, who reached the scene and removed the bodies to the Manga Mandi police station.
According to the Edhi officials, the victims seemed to be lovers, as Nadeem’s parents reached the police station to get the body, and did not identify the girl.
