Karachi: Arrest made in urination case
KARACHI: The police have arrested a person responsible for killing the father of three during a clash which started over someone urinating next to a place of worship Tuesday within the jurisdiction of Baghdadi Police Station.
Deceased, Syed Kauser, 40, was shot dead near his house outside Imambargah Altaf Hussain located near Police Lane. FIR No 69/08 was registered on behalf of the deceased’s brother Abbas against Veriyam Altaf, Iqbal, Emran, Iqbal alias Balla, policeman Sajid and his brother Babar, and others. Babar was also injured during the exchanged of fire.
Plaintiff Abbas gave his statement to the police that one of the boys from the opposite party was urinating at a distance of approximately 50 feet from the imambargah. People tried stopping him, which was not taken lightly by the boy’s side, which opened fire.
SHO Baghdadi Haji Sanaullah said that the both groups involved in the violence have been living in the area for the last 25 to 30 years and had no personal grudge. After the incident, there was an exchange of words which escalated into an exchange of fire. Kauser died on the spot while five of his associates also sustained bullet wounds and were rushed to Civil Hospital and later to a private hospital.
Tension has been high in the area. SHO Sanaullah said that one of the alleged killers, named Veriyam, has been arrested while others will be arrested soon.
