One killed, six family members hurt in Mohmand
GHALANI: One person was killed and six members of his family injured when a mortar shell hit a house in the Qandarvi area of Mohmand Agency here early on Sunday, APP reported.
Official sources said that a group of extremists attacked an FC check-post in Tehsil Lakaro at 4am, against which the FC retaliated. During the exchange of fire, which lasted around three hours, rocket launchers and other heavy, and light weaponry, was used.
As a result, a mortar shell landed on the house of Dawai Khan, killing him instantly, while two women and four children from his family sustained injuries. The injured were rushed to a local hospital.
In Mohmand Agency’s Pindyali area, extremists with explosive devices blew up four check-posts, triggering a shootout between the extremists and security forces that continued for four hours, TV channel Geo reported.
Heavy automatic weapons and shells were used during the fighting, Online reported.
In another incident in the Garbaz area, Qadeem Khan was wounded when an aerial bullet pierced his body. The situation in the area was tense as helicopter gunships hovered over suspected fugitives’ hideouts during the morning. Meanwhile, Peshawar-Bajaur road was blocked to traffic and people were facing difficulties in reaching their homes.
