Rawalpindi: Corruption case against Sherpao delayed
RAWALPINDI: An Accountability Court on Friday adjourned until March 21 the hearing of a petition by the former interior minister, seeking acquittal of a corruption case against him, under the National Reconciliation Ordinance-2007 (NRO-2007).
The case could not be taken up as the concerned judge, Muhammad Hanif Khan, has been transferred. The NRO-2007 provides amnesty to public office-holders charged in corruption cases between 1986 and 1999. Aftab Khan Sherpao, a former interior minister, is accused of receiving money embezzled from a housing project in Islamabad in 1995.
