Rawalpindi: Ex-minister sent to jail
RAWALPINDI: A civil judge here on Saturday sent former federal minister arrested for alleged human trafficking to Central Jail Adiala for 14 days on judicial remand on the request of Federal Investigation Agency.
The relevant judge was on leave and the FIA officials produced Mushtaq Victor former federal minister for minorities in the court of Civil Judge Chaudhry Afzal Saqib who has additional charge of anti-corruption and FIA.
The investigators in their statement said that they had completed their preliminary investigation and wanted to keep the accused in jail. The judge sent the former minister to jail for 14 days.
FIA authorities arrested Mushtaq Victor, an educationist by profession, on March 7 in a case registered under Pakistan Penal Code section 420, cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property, 468, forgery for purpose of cheating and 471, using as genuine a forged document and under different sections of immigration act.
It has been alleged that the former minister has sent many people to different countries in Europe showing them as his relatives after taking handsome money from them. The special case is said to be Italy where he sent some 21 men at the time of coronation of new Pope in Rome.
