Gujranwala: Policemen booked for illegal detention
GUJRANWALA: On the orders of the district and sessions judge, the police on Monday registered a case against seven officials, including an SHO and investigation officer, for keeping a man in illegal confinement and torturing him during interrogation at lockup.
Reports said Dhulley police picked up Zulfikar Butt from his car showroom near Lorry Adda at the behest of his rivals and detained him at police station where he was tortured by investigating officer. The police registered a car theft case against him.
His heirs moved the district and sessions court which ordered his examination by a DHQ medical board. The medical board confirmed in its report that he was tortured. The court ordered registration of a case against the police officials. Those who were booked are SHO inspector Fazal Ahmad, investigating officer Khuram, constables Sohail, Sajid, Amjad, Abas, Munir.
