Lahore: Six DSPs suspended over financial scam
LAHORE: Inspector General (IG) of Police Dr Syed Azhar Hassan Nadeem has suspended six deputy superintendents of police (DSPs) and other police officers over their involvement in financial embezzlements in Madad Committee, Multan. The IG has also ordered to register a case against the officers.
According to the Punjab Police spokesman, the IG took disciplinary action and after an enquiry, conducted by DIG (Inspection and Vigilance Cell) Zafar Iqbal Qureshi, found the said officers guilty and also of protecting the accused.
The suspended DSPs are Muhammad Azam Ali Shah, Sadiq Chandio, Habib Ahmad Khan, Liaqat Ali Mirza, Naeemul Hassan and Athar Farooq, the police spokesman said. “The IG has also ordered the regional police officer and operations senior superintendent of police of Multan to suspend the inspector, sub-inspector and assistant sub-inspector who were found involved in the scandal,” he said, adding that the IG had ordered registering cases against them for the recovery of the embezzled money.
