Lahore: CIA arrests four criminals
LAHORE: The Crime Investigation Agency’s (CIA) Saddar division has arrested four members of a criminal gang involved in street crimes, and have seized stolen property as well as illegal weapons from them. The accused confessed to 20 street crimes during preliminary interrogation.
Capital City Police Officer Additional Inspector General Malik Muhammad Iqbal directed Deputy Inspector General of Police (Investigation) Tassaduq Hussain to take effective measures for curbing street crimes.
A special team was constituted under the supervision of Superintendent of Police CIA Ch. Masood Aziz, comprising Deputy Superintendent of Police CIA Saddar division and other officials, which gathered information about the gang and arrested its four members from Skinderia Colony, following a tip-off.
The four are accused of snatching cash and valuables from passer-bys at gunpoint. They also robbed cashiers of the Pepsi Company and injured a number of employees.
The areas in which the crimes were committed include Garden Town, Nawankot, Ichhra, Sabzazar, Green Town and Samanabad.
Around seven cases had been traced against the accused by various police stations. The police recovered Rs 40,000 in cash, two cell phones, a TV, four pistols and bullets from the accused. The arrested were identified as Babar alias Babloo, Muhammad Kamran, Asim Ali, Shoaib alias Mani and Muhammad Sulman.
Muhammad Iqbal has announced cash prizes and commendatory certificates for the police investigaion team.
