Jacobabad: Ex-minister booked for poll violence
JACOBABAD: Former Sindh minister Dr Sohrab Sarki and 28 other people have been booked on the charge of sabotaging polling process at a local constituency during Feb 18 elections by firing rockets on a polling station and thrashing PPP activists.
One Arsala Khoso lodged an FIR with the Garhi Hassan police station of Thul on Tuesday against Dr Sarki, a Pakistan Muslim League candidate for PS-15 Thul, Hanif Sarki, Wahid Sarki and 26 others on the charge of sabotaging polling process at Garhi Hassan polling station.
When contacted, Dr Sarki refuted the allegations and said that the ‘politically motivated’ case against him and members of his community was aimed at victimising him. However, he said that he was not afraid of such tactics.
Dr Sarki was declared successful in the PA seat election but Mir Hasan Khoso, the rival candidate of the Pakistan People’s Party, has challenged the results and his appeal is pending in an election tribunal.
