Lahore: Bid to smuggle flour foiled
LAHORE: Residents of Mir Ali in North Waziristan on Wednesday foiled an attempt to smuggle 25 trucks loaded with wheat flour to Afghanistan, according to private TV channel Aaj TV.
It said the locals occupied the trucks and subjected the drivers to violence. Residents reacted to the failure of the local administration to tackle the problem of smuggling of wheat, the TV said. It quoted local elders as saying that it was hard to purchase a 20 Kg bag of wheat flour even at Rs 550, due to the smuggling.
