Karachi: MQM activist shot dead
KARACHI: An activist of the Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) was gunned down Thursday night during a shoot-out within the jurisdiction of Gulberg police station. He died on the spot. The body was taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where he was identified as Syed Anwar Hussain aged 40.
He was a member of MQM unit No 150 (Gulberg), said DSP Faisal Noor. Hussain was standing near his house at Ibrahim Alibhai, block-6, Gulberg, where some unidentified pedestrians shot him, the officer said. “I think it is a target killing because the deceased’s licensed TT pistol, cell phone and wallet were not taken,” said SHO Jan Khan Niazi. He was the father of three children and worked as a distributor in a mineral water company.
