Karachi: ST murder cases
KARACHI: The murder cases of two Sunni Tehreek (ST) activists, Faizan Qadri and Anees Qari, were registered on Wednesday. Both FIRs were lodged on behalf of the government because of the unavailability of the deceased’s families and the motive behind the killings and the accused have been listed as unknown. FIR No 75/08, in the case of ST sector in-charge Faizan Qadri, who was found dead on March 31, was lodged on behalf of Station Head Officer (SHO) Naveed Nasir and was registered at the Rizvia Police Station.
FIR No 52/08, for the case of Anees Qadri, who was found dead on the same day, was registered on behalf Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Daniyal Adil. The ST central leader, Shahid Ghouri, claimed on Thursday that the party submitted an application for the case on its own behalf and even mentioned the names of the people responsible for the killings. The complainant officer, while talking to Daily Times, said that they are not concerned with the ST. “We lodged the cases because of the unavailability of the deceased’s families,” he said. “We will decide what to do when the families come to register case.”
MQM-H hearing Also, division bench of the Sindh High Court (SHC) comprising Justice Qaiser Iqbal and Justice Syed Mahmood Alam Rizvi adjourned on Thursday the hearing of an appeal filed by Mohajir Qaumi Movement-Haqiqi (MQM-H) Central leader Aamir Khan, till April 16 for want of time. The appellant questioned his conviction and sentence by an ATC, Karachi division, in a double murder case. According to the prosecution, MQM-H activists fired at and killed two workers of a rival faction.
