Karachi: 4 arrested for kidnapping class-two student
KARACHI: The Anti-Violent Crime Unit (AVCU) police arrested on Friday four people who were involved in the kidnapping of a class-two student.
Javed Hussain, seven, is a resident of sector 5 ½, Baldia Town. He was kidnapped on March 27 while on his way to school. His father Ghulam, a local businessman, registered FIR number 48/08 for his son’s kidnapping at Baldia Police Station. It was revealed that Hussain was kidnapped by his cousin Shehzad and his three associates, Arif, Danish and Shoaib.
Shehzad threw Hussain from the P.I.D.C. bridge, within the jurisdiction of Frere Police Station, on the day of the kidnapping but, fortunately, Hussain was saved and taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center by some area residents. He passed four days in the hospital in unconscious condition, after which Hussain informed his parents and the police about the culprit, his own cousin.
“The kidnappers did not know that Hussain was still alive,” said DSP Rao Aslam, “and they continued their demand for ransom worth Rs 0.1 million.”
On Friday, they arranged a meeting with Hussain’s father at Chakiwara, Lyari, for the ransom money, and that is when they were arrested. The DSP said that Shehzad needed money badly to pay off some debts. This is why he decided to kidnap his cousin for ransom.
