Lahore: AVLS arrests three car lifters
LAHORE: The Anti Vehicles Lifting Staff (AVLS) has arrested three car theives and seized seven stolen cars worth Rs 2.5 million from them. The accused have confessed to 11 such incidents during preliminary interrogation.
Capital City Police Officer Additional Inspector General of Police Malik Muhammad Iqbal has ordered Deputy Inspector General of Police (Investigation) Tassaduq Hussain to take effective measures to curb the incidence of car theft.
A special team was constituted under the supervision of Superintendent of Police (SP) Crime Record Office Zaeem Iqbal Sheikh, comprising Deputy Superintendent of Police AVLS and other officials, to seek out and arrest the three criminals. The arrested were identified as Waseem Akhtar, alias Cheema; Hanif Mistri; and Ezat Baig.
The areas in which these cars theives had committed crimes include Gulberg, Faisal Town, Civil Lines, Model Town, Shahdara, and Lyton Road.
CIA arrests three drug traffickers Separately, the Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) Police Civil Lines division has arrested three drug traffickers. A special team was constituted on the order of SP CIA Masood Aziz, comprising the Incharge CIA Civil Lines division and other officials.
Cases have been registered against the three at the Naulakha police station and further investigations are in progress. The police recovered five pistols and bullets from their possession.
