Lahore: 205 arrests in a day
LAHORE: The City Police on Tuesday claimed to have arrested another 205 criminals on the third day of its drive against proclaimed offenders, and seized a heavy cache of illicit arms from them.
According to a statement, police have arrested 1,042 outlaws in three days. The police teams constituted for the purpose raided a number of hideouts of criminals in the city during the night of April 7-8, arresting 56 proclaimed offenders, 89 court absconders, and 60 target offenders. The police also registered 175 cases of illicit arms and seized 160 pistols, seven guns, three rifles, and 530 bullets.
Legal inspectors to be appointed In order to transform the police into a more welfare-focused organisation, legal inspectors will be appointed to all police stations in the city, said Additional Inspector General (R&D) Sheikh Israr Ahmad on Tuesday.
He was addressing trainee probationer officers of the 35th Common Group at the Central Police Office on Tuesday. He said training programmes for sub divisional police officials and station house officers were in the pipeline. He said the training would help officials to enhance their skills.
Additional IG (training) Fayyaz Ahmad Mir, DIG (operations) Muhammad Rafiq Hasan, DIG (headquarters) Rai Altaf Hussain, DIG (R&D) Malik Khuda Bukhsh Awan and DIG (training) Muhammad Abid Qadri were present on the occasion.
