Lahore: Clash between IJT and USF 12 injured at PU Chemical Department
LAHORE: Twelve Punjab University (PU) students were injured on Tuesday when a fight broke out between the PU Islami Jamiat Talaba (IJT) and anti-IJT students at the PU Chemical Department. PU IJT nazim Rana Zahid alleged that the PU administration and Shia students had beaten up IJT workers.
He demanded that the PU administration take action against those behind the incident. PU spokesman Dr Mujahid Mansoori said the PU administration would investigate the matter. Ali Ahsan Warraich, a University Students Federation (USF) member, said the IJT had invited about 50 IJT workers from the Civil Line College to the PU. He said the IJT workers with the help of these outsiders had beaten four USF workers. Ahsan, a PU student, said that since the decision to restore students’ unions, the anti-IJT students were trying to take control of the PU. He said the majority of PU students were against the IJT. PU IJT Nazim Rana Zahid said that the PU administration, PU Law College Principal Muhammad Ashfaq, and some Shia students were behind the incident. He said that IJT nazim Ansar Shoaib and a number of IJT workers had sustained injuries.
PU administration lodges FIR against IJT activists The PU administration on Tuesday lodged a first information report against the IJT activists. PU administration officials told Daily Times that dozens of IJT activists had broken down the doors of the sports room at the Institute of Education and Research to set up an office.
