Lahore: Two POs killed in shootout
LAHORE: Two proclaimed offenders (POs), charged with the murder of Advocate Tanvir Ahmad Chadhar and his clerk Abdul Jabbar, were killed in an encounter with Hafiazabad Police on Friday, said a spokesman for the Punjab Police. He said that the encounter lasted for one and a half hour.
The official spokesman said that Jabbar had purchased a disputed house and when he and Chadhar went to see the house, the accused namely Ikram alias Kami and Saleem alias Saleemi, opened fire, leaving them dead. He said the accused then fled from the scene. He said after receiving information, the Hafizabad district police officer (DPO) dispatched a team to arrest the accused. “When the team reached village Dohatta Khooh, the accused took shelter in the fields and opened fire on the police. The team then retaliated and firing continued for an hour and a half, leaving Kami and Saleemi dead,” he said and added that a kalashnikov riffle, a 12-bore double barrel and a 30-bore pistol were found near the bodies. “According to the police record, the accused were wanted in a number of cases of crimes,” he said.
