Rawalpindi: SHO, two cops called to Police Lines
RAWALPINDI: City Police Officer (CPO) Saud Aziz has directed three officials of Sadiqabad police, including Station House Officer (SHO) Sardar Babar Mumtaz and two constables, to report to Police Lines for keeping UC-28 Naib Nazim Qari Salim in illegal custody and assault on him, sources told Daily Times on Saturday.
Sources said Mumtaz and the two cops assaulted Salim when he went to Sadiqabad police station for lodging a car theft report of his friend Saddique Gujar. On this, residents of the area staged a protest demonstration against the police in front of police station and burnt tyres on the road.
Taking note of the incident, the CPO directed the SHO and two cops to report to Police Lines, said the sources. A senior official requesting anonymity told Daily Times that SHO had been directed to report to Police Lines to avoid inquiry against him.
