Islamabad: 27 blind murders in just 3 months
ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police have failed to resolve over 27 blind murder cases, all happened in year 2008 in the federal capital.
During the last three months, six blind murders occurred in the limits of Sabizimandi police station, four in the limits of Kohsar police station, three each in the limits of Industrial Area, Sihala and Golra police stations, two each in the limits of Aabpara, Shalimar, Secretariat and Shahzad Town police stations and one in the limits of Margalla police station.
According to police, in most of the cases the respective investigation officers did not bother to do their duty. The number of blind murders has alarmingly increased as the police have failed to bring the culprits to book.
A senior police official seeking anonymity told Daily Times that political and influential people were involved in a number of such cases and they had been pressuring police against investigations. He said as compared to other cities the ratio of blind murders in the federal capital was very high. He said 27 cases in only three months were undoubtedly a big blow to the performance of ICT police and a challenge to writ of the government, as the murderers were still moving freely.
The official said the high-ups were taking no action against the respective investigation officers for their performance in resolving the blind murder cases.
