Lahore: Robbers gun down vegetable seller
LAHORE: Two alleged robbers gunned down a vegetable seller when he was going to the fruit market early on Monday in Factory Area police precinct, the police said.
The police said that victim Yaseen, 25, and his brother Salamat Ali, both local residents, were vegetable sellers and were going to buy vegetables from the fruit market near the Lahore Bridge.
The police said that the two robbers riding a motorcycle intercepted the deceased and snatched Rs 1,200 from Yaseen, and tried to grab cash also from Salamat Ali. Yaseen challenged the robbers to avoid the loss of cash, but the robbers opened fire on him. The robbers fled from the scene, leaving the victim seriously injured. Later, an Edhi ambulance took Yaseen to Lahore General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The body was taken to the city morgue.
The police registered a case against the unknown robbers on the complaint of Salamat Ali. A police source said that the victim’s brother, Salamat, asked the policemen to chase the robbers and set up pickets to arrest them, but the police did nothing.
