Karachi: Six released in IB officials’ murder case
KARACHI: A police report in favour of six men arrested for allegedly killing SI Muhammad Ibrahim and ASI Fazlur Rahman of the Intelligence Bureau (IB) within the jurisdiction of Preedy Police Station on March 20, submitted under section 497(2) CrPC, was accepted on Tuesday by Anti-Terrorism Court Karachi division Administrative Judge (AJ) Justice Rana M. Shamim.
The investigations officer (IO) submitted the report which stated that no evidence could be collected to connect the men in custody with the alleged double murder, and there was no evidence available against them to send them to trial. The AJ was requested to order the release of the men in custody – Umer Farooq, Tariq Mohammad, Mohammad Saeed, Mohammad Adnan, Razaullah and Mohammad Salman – who were booked under Section 302/34 read with Section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA 1997), as both of the men who were killed were on duty. The AJ accepted the police report and ordered the release of the accused if they were not wanted or required in any other case.
