Karachi: Bangladesi man gets three years in jail for illegal stay
KARACHI: The additional district and sessions judge, south, Irfan Hussain, sentenced a Bangladeshi national to three years in jail for residing illegally in Pakistan.
The judge also imposed a fine of Rs2,000 and ordered further imprisonment in case of non-payment for three more months. Besides, the court directed the authorities concerned to expel him from the country on the completion of the jail term.
According to the prosecution, Manzoor-ul-Islam had entered Pakistan without any legal documents and had been illegally residing here since 1985. Police arrested him in 2006 and registered a case against him under the Emigration Ordinance 1979 at the Mithadar police station.
