Rawalpindi: Flour smuggling bids foiled
RAWALPINDI: The police on Thursday foiled three separate attempts to smuggle flour out of the city and arrested eight people. A joint team of the police and food department stopped an NWFP-bound truck near Girja village, seized 325 flour bags and arrested three people aboard. The arrested men were Nadeem Khan, Naik Muhammad and Rahim Khan of Mardan.
It also recovered 178 flour bags from a van, en route for Mardan, on Fateh Jhang Road in Dhoke Hameeda and arrested Rehmat Gul, Fayyaz Khan, Waheedullah and Shahid Ali Khan.
The team seized another van, laden with 100 flour bags and bound for Mardan, at Battar Bahama Road and held the driver, Muhammad Usman. The police booked the arrested men under the Food Control Act and sent them to jail.
