Rawalpindi: Flour smuggling bid foiled
RAWALPINDI: The officials of District Food Department on Saturday impounded a truck and arrested its driver for smuggling flour bags to Haripur, District Food Controller Chaudhry Muhammad Asif said in a press release.
The truck was intercepted at Frooqia (Taxila) Check post and 120 flour bags were recovered from it. Asif said the drive to check flour smuggling would continue.
Meanwhile, District Coordination Officer (DCO) Irfan Elahi told a meeting at the DCO office they had 987 flour bags in the stock, which were leftover of Rawalpindi flourmills’ Friday sale.
Executive District Officer (Revenue) Dr Amber Ali, District Officer (Revenue) Muhammad Asif Qureshi, District Food Controller Chaudhry Muhammad Asif and the price control magistrates also attended the meeting.
