Rawalpindi: Accused granted bail in illegal currency case
RAWALPINDI: Lahore High Court (LHC), Rawalpindi Bench, on Tuesday granted bail to Abdul Razaq, an alleged member of a gang involved in illegal printing of foreign currency and saving certificates. The LHC bench comprising Justice Maulvi Anwarul Haq and Justice Ali Akbar Qureshi granted bail to Razaq on a surety bond of Rs 0.5 million. The gang had obtained millions of rupees in loans on saving certificates from various banks.
National Accountability Bureau (NAB) officials had arrested all members of the gang from Karachi. Razaq’s counsel Nasir Syed Sheikh argued before the court that police could not provide any evidence against his client so he might be granted bail. After hearing the arguments, the court granted bail to Razaq.
