Lahore: SHO, constable injured in shootout with land grabbers
LAHORE: The Hanjarwal Police station house officer (SHO) and a police constable were injured during a shootout between the police and land grabbers on Friday.
The police told Daily Times that a police party had gone to Maraghzar Colony to evict land grabbers from a plot. One of the land grabbers opened fire on the policemen, injuring Constable Imran. Another police team, headed by Hanjarwal SHO Mazhar Iqbal Ranjha, rushed to the spot and the criminals shot at them too, injuring SHO Ranjha.
During the shootout, the police arrested one of the land grabbers, Khaliq Ahmad, and his wife. Ahmad was later identified as a former police constable. Police officials said that Ahmad shot himself while being taken to a police station. He was taken to Jinnah Hospital and a case was registered against him
