Lahore: Mugger killed in shootout
LAHORE: Muhafiz Squad of Ghaziabad Police claimed to have killed an alleged 27-year-old robber during a shootout on Wednesday night. Ghaziabad Deputy Superintendent of Police Malik Awais said that two unidentified motorcyclists had snatched a mobile phone from a pedestrian, Jamil, near Aqsa Chowk in Ghaziabad.
He said that three patrolling officials Abdul Rauf, Gulzar and Tanveer, heard Jamil crying for help. The officials, responding to the cry, chased the unidentified motorcyclist, who opened fire on them. He said that the officials also fired bullets and killed one of the robbers, while the other fled.
He said that the police had recovered a motorcycle, a pistol, bullets and several mobile SIM cards from the gunned down robber. However, according to an eyewitness, two robbers were snatching a mobile phone and cash from Jamil, the owner of a mobile shop, when two security guards of nearby shops opened fire and killed a robber.
