Kasur: DPO told to register case against policeman
LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Friday directed Kasur district police officer (DPO) to register a case against a sub-inspector for illegally detaining three people. The petitioner, Muhammad Alamghir, said that his father, brother Jahangir and two of their employees, Razzaq and Manzoor, were travelling in a car when Allahabad Kasur station house officer and his subordinates intercepted them and took them to a police station. He alleged that the police also impounded their car and legal weapons.
He said that the police released his father, but demanded illegal gratification for the release of others. He sought directions to appoint a bailiff to recover the detainees. A court bailiff then raided the police station and recovered three people from the custody of sub-inspector Akbar Javed. The bailiff submitted that no formal arrest of the detenues was shown in the daily register. After going through bailiff’s report, the court freed the detenues and ordered the DPO to register a case against the sub-inspector.
